This is a brief reminder that that the final date by which an employer can furlough an employee for the first time is Wednesday 10 June 2020.

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme closes to new entrants on 30 June 2020 and any employee for whom the employer wishes to claim a grant under the scheme, needs to have been furloughed for a full 3 week period before that date.

If an employer wants to take advantage of the scheme they need to get an employee’s agreement to furlough leave, and start the leave, on or before Wednesday 10 June 2020.

Employers should also note that if they plan to claim for a grant under the scheme in respect of the period to 30 June 2020, they must have completed their claim by Friday 31 July 2020.

Please do get in touch if you would like to discuss your furlough plans or if you require assistance with getting your furlough documentation in place. For more details on recent changes to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme please see our previous alert here.
